A great way to get some gut healing food in your child is to make gummies. These lemon gummies are super easy to make and provide a ton of nutritional goodness.
Ingredients:
¾ cup Organic Lemonade
¼ cup Organic Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Xylitol (from Birch, not corn)
*You could also use Stevia
5 Tablespoons Great Lakes Unflavored Gelatin
Silicone candy mold
The only silicon mold I had on hand when I made these were ice cubes so I went with that!
Place all ingredients in a sauce pan, wisk well and heat over medium heat. Once the mixture has become all liquid (ie – doesn’t look like applesauce any more), pour into your silicone mold. Place in the refrigerator to cool. Seriously, that’s all there is to it!!
Gelatin has some great nutritional benefits – it has important amino acids which are the building blocks for proteins, improves gut health and digestion, protects joints (collagen), improves skin health, maintains strong bones and can help you feel full. But just like any other food – it’s important that you start with quality ingredients. I recommend Great Lakes brand.
You can get fancy with these or you can be basic like me. I simply leave a bowl of the bite-sized cubes out and they are usually gone within a day. I think these make great “pot-luck” dishes too because it’s a great way to show your friends and family how easy and tasty good gut health can be.
Enjoy!!
